A hole-in-one is something most golfers can only dream of. To get one on the iconic 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass is even cooler. But to hit the ball straight into the hole without it taking a single bounce on the green? That’s just ridiculous.
Yet Ryan Moore did just that during the first round of the Players on Thursday, hitting arguably the greatest tee shot ever seen to the island green, which is surrounded by water and then thousands of fans lining the banks.
Moore hit a gap wedge from 121 yards out, with the pin placed perilously close to the front of the green for round one. His pure strike was dead on line the whole way but nobody expected what happened next.
