An online campaign has started to allow a little-known Korean golfer to play in The Open after he became a viral sensation thanks to his remarkable swing.

Ho-sung Choi narrowly missed out on qualifying for The Open by finishing fifth at the Korea Open, where only the top two bagged spots in the field at Carnoustie in July.

But Choi, 44, has won an army of fans with his eccentric swing and behaviour, which sees him pirouette extravagantly on one leg in his follow through, sometimes hopping around the tee box in excitement and wildly celebrating successful putts.
